Why don’t UEFA Cup fixtures not have the same gap in time between matches as Champions League games?

Posted under champions league fixtures

I don’t understand why this is done. For example look at the Chelsea v Spurs match from Sunday; Spurs have a packed schedule with FA Cup, UEFA Cup, and domestic fixtures all occuring with days of one another. The UEFA Cup matches are set a week apart, but the Champions League matches are set every other week allowing a more relaxed schedule. Why can’t this be done in the UEFA Cup as well?

  1. because it is too near the end of the season with loads of games still to be played so they all have to be squashed up together…. although i agree they should be more spread out

  2. cos there are more uefa cup matches than there are cl

Sometimes the fixtures work in your favour and sometimes they don’t, thats just the way it is.

  4. uefa cup become as a two leg affair a round before the champions league becomes its a slightly changed set up from that of the champions league.
